Dai Sensei Kenwa Mabuni

Sensei Kenwa Mabuni was the founder of Shito style of karate. During the years 1914 and 1915, Sensei Mabuni along with other masters gave many demonstrations in Okinawa to establish their style of karate in Japan. Sensei Kenwa Mabuni established The Nippon Karate-Do, the Shito-Ryu foundation in Osaka, Japan in 1930. The Grand Masre was born on 14th November, 1889 in Shuri Okinawa. He started to learn Karate under the guidance of Master ITOSU ANKO and Master HIGASHI ONNA. His style is the combination of lightning fast movements of Master Itosu Anko for attack and powerful techniques of Master Higashi Onna for defence. He named this style as the Shito-Ryu

Dai Sensei Kenei Mabuni

Sensei Kenei Mabuni was legend of Shito-Ryu Karate. He is the son of the founder Master Kenwa Mabuni. Under his leadership Shito-Ryu has produced several world champions both in kata and kumite. Grand Master Kenie Mabuni has not only spread Shito-Ryu karate throughout the world but also has been an advocate of the spiritual aspects of karate-do placing greater emphasis on this. He was the chief of Katas in World Union of Karate Organizations, the controlling body of karate in the world. He has also published several highly technical books on karate.

Dai Sensei Alan Wm Dwyer

Sensei Alan Dwyer is one of the few foreigners who learns and teaches karate in Japan, the land of multiple martial arts. He was a man who had a rare distinction of representing Japanese school in Osaka city and west Japan tournaments. Sensei Alan was the founder of Shito-Ryu School in India. He was one of the personal students of Sensei Mabuni and gained 4th Degree in Black Belt after 16 years of strenuous training under Grand Master Kenie Mabuni. Sensei Alan started the first Shito-Ryu School in India in Tamil Nadu. This Shito-Ryu School was headed by Sensei Moses Thilak and came to be known as the Alan-Thilak Karate School (formerly Kai Shien Kan Karate School).

Dai Sensei Moses Thilak

Sensei Moses Thilak (8th Degree Black Belt) was the head of Alan-Thilak Karate School, the first Shito School in India. Sensei Moses is still the most famous Master of karate in India and has his students all over the country. At very young age itself he had passion for Martial Arts. He had mastered South Indian martial arts like Adi Murai, Marma Adi and Kambu from his maternal uncle Mr C Muthiah an acknowledged master of these South Indian martial arts. He had also mastered the Kerala martial art Kalari. He was also a champion in Judo at the age of eighteen. He was first a student of Goju-Ryu style of karate under Sensei Stephen. Sensei Alan introduced to him the Shito-Ryu style of karate and that was the land Mark for the growth of Shito-Ryu karate in Tamil Nadu as well as in India. He was the Technical Director of Alan-Thilak Karate School, Technical Director Tamil Nadu State Karate Association, Chairman Technical Committee All India Shito-Ryu Karate Federation and Vice President All India Karate-do-Federation.
